Description:
Lee and Nancy Boggs opened Lees Record and Hobby Shop at 224 Main Street, Batavia, in 1968. Lee worked fulltime at General Electric in Evendale as an electronic repair technician while Nancy tended the store and wrote a column for The Community Journal called Records In Review. In February 1971, the shop expanded to a larger corner location at 250 Main Street. Lee began purchasing appliances from General Electric and selling them in the store prompting a name change to Lees Record and TV Shop.
Lee then partnered with GE colleague Jack Schwartz, officially renaming the business Lee and Jacks TV & Appliances. Although Jack later moved on, the name had become a trusted local staple and remains unchanged today. In 1979, the Boggs family moved the business to 184 East Main Street.
As a teenager, Lees oldest son Jeff developed an interest in the business repairing TVs and selling appliances. In 1981, Jeff purchased the store from his parents. He met Wanda in 1983, and together they expanded both the business and their family. In February 1991, they built a new facility at 681 College Dr, where the store still operates today.
After 44 years as the heart of the company, Jeff and Wanda have retired. Now the 3rd generation Derek Boggs, Hunter Willoughby and Alyssa Menkhaus proudly continue the Lee & Jacks legacy in the same beloved location.
